About The Position
Hydro One is seeking a University Co-Op Student for a 12-month term in Distribution Planning, starting in Fall 2026. This role is based in Toronto and is a temporary position. Hydro One is Ontario's largest electricity transmission and distribution provider, with a history spanning over 110 years. This co-op position offers professional development opportunities to enhance technical knowledge in power systems planning, improve communication skills, and gain knowledge of power industry standards.
Requirements
- Discipline: Electrical/Civil/Mechanical/Computer Engineering/Engineering Science, power system option is an asset.
- Academic level: Completion of 3rd year or higher.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong ability to interface and work with others.
- Knowledge of basic power system components.
- Strong time management skills.
- G Class Driver’s License.
- Must be enrolled in post-secondary level studies and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work term, or require a work term to graduate.
- Must have obtained a proper work permit and a Social Insurance Number (SIN) if an international student.

Responsibilities
- Assisting members of the Distribution Investment Planning and Distribution Station Engineering Team with assigned tasks.
- Assessing and analyzing Distribution System Asset Data.
- Contributing to the development of power system investment plans for capacity reinforcement, reliability improvement, and/or asset refurbishment.
- Responding to Customer Information Requests.
- Assessing the merit and viability of Distribution Investment Decisions.
- Collaborating with other Service Providers and Stakeholders to improve the quality and completeness of Asset Data.
- Preparing business cases and other business documents.
- Designing and documenting processes and improvements.
- Interfacing with internal customers.
- Writing technical or non-technical reports.
- Performing or assisting with presentations.
- Assisting with task tracking and completion status.
