About The Position

Grand Canyon Education (GCE) is seeking a motivated University Admissions Counselor to oversee the Phoenix, AZ territory in a unique remote (work from home in Phoenix, AZ) opportunity. This role involves helping Grand Canyon University’s Trade and Workforce Development students succeed. The position offers a starting salary of $58,656 per year with a tenure-based compensation plan that allows for increased earning potential upon the completion of each year-long recruitment cycle. The ideal candidate finds fulfillment in serving others, is passionate about education, demonstrates success as a team player, is adaptable to change, and acts intentionally. This role is about making a positive impact by helping high school students and re-careering adults make the decision to pursue careers in Phoenix’s growing trade industries through Grand Canyon University’s workforce development paths. The University Admissions Counselor will play an integral role in helping students from application through their first few weeks in class.

Requirements

  • Must live in or near Phoenix, AZ
  • A bachelor’s degree
  • No delinquent or in default on a federal student loan as verified in your credit report. If in a rehabilitation program, your credit report must reflect that you are current, not delinquent, on your payments.
  • Outstanding time management and organization skills.
  • Clear communication and engaging presentation skills.
  • Self-motivation and drive to succeed.
  • High emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy is key to success in this role.
  • A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, a flexible schedule and is willing to travel.
  • Clean driving record and ability to use your personal vehicle.
  • Some events require evening and/or weekend availability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.

Responsibilities

  • Be involved in the community through hosting and implementing event/activity plans for your territory that build awareness of academic programs and campus community and drive inquiry generation.
  • Provide exceptional counseling to prospective students and their families through a variety of mediums (in-person, phone, email, text, Zoom), championing the GCE mission and promoting Grand Canyon University student success and institutional growth.
  • Connect with high school counselors and students, corporate workforce decision makers, and other major stakeholders in your territory.
  • Maintain a full schedule that includes fairs, school visits, presentations, community/campus events, and hosting campus visits.
  • Support prospective Grand Canyon University campus students and families through the admissions process, guiding them on the right path towards a successful campus experience.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with community colleges and their staff.
