About The Position

Grand Canyon Education (GCE) is seeking a motivated University Admissions Counselor to oversee the California territory in a remote work-from-home opportunity based in Phoenix, AZ, with frequent travel to California. This role involves helping prospective students and their families navigate the admissions process for Grand Canyon University's Traditional Ground Campus. The position focuses on building awareness of academic programs, driving inquiry generation, and providing exceptional counseling to students and families through various communication channels. The counselor will act as the face of Grand Canyon University in their territory, engaging with community college students, faculty, and staff, and managing a full schedule of events. This role requires independent work, critical thinking, and a commitment to supporting students towards a successful campus experience.

Requirements

  • Must live in or near Phoenix, AZ.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • No delinquent or in default on a federal student loan as verified in credit report. If in rehabilitation program, credit report must reflect current, not delinquent, payments.
  • Outstanding time management and organization skills.
  • Clear communication and engaging presentation skills (in person, written, phone).
  • Well-developed listening skills.
  • Self-motivation and drive to succeed.
  • High emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, flexible schedule, and willingness to travel.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to use personal vehicle for work.
  • Some events require evening and/or weekend availability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Host and implement event/activity plans for the territory to build awareness of academic programs and campus community, and drive inquiry generation.
  • Provide exceptional counseling to prospective students and their families through various mediums (in-person, phone, email, text, Zoom).
  • Champion the GCE mission, promoting Grand Canyon University student success and institutional growth.
  • Connect with community college students, faculty, and staff in the assigned territory.
  • Engage all major stakeholders in the territory.
  • Maintain a full schedule that includes fairs, school visits, presentations, community/campus events, and hosting campus visits.
  • Support prospective Grand Canyon University campus students and families through the admissions process.
  • Guide students on the right path towards a successful campus experience.
