About The Position

Engage with customers and establish rapport that encourages further engagement. Assist the team in achieving branch goals, provide excellent customer service, and remain flexible to accommodate branch staffing needs. This role requires working independently, managing time effectively, following policies and procedures with accuracy, and contributing to branch meetings and culture. The Universal Banker will promote products and services based on customer needs, understand their financial goals, and provide consultative advice. They will be responsible for account opening and maintenance, including consumer loan applications and closings. A strong understanding of digital systems and their functionality is essential for supporting and promoting digital banking solutions, including online and mobile banking setup, and assisting customers with various digital tools. The role also involves processing teller transactions, maintaining and balancing cash drawers, and resolving discrepancies. In-bound and out-bound call handling is crucial for building relationships, identifying opportunities, making product recommendations, and solving issues proactively. Referrals to business partners are necessary to ensure customers can accomplish all their financial needs within Midwest BankCentre. The Universal Banker will also assist the team in achieving branch goals by meeting quarterly standards and participating in training. A thorough understanding of federal banking regulations, including BSA, USA Patriot Act, AML, and Notary Public, is required, along with adherence to the bank's compliance requirements and risk management concepts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and engage clients effectively
  • Technologically savvy with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and software
  • Problem-solving mindset and the ability to think critically under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate effectively within a team environment
  • Willing and able to travel to other locations/branches
  • Willing and able to work required overtime
  • Generally, the position will require 40 hours per week
  • Evenings and weekends may be required as necessary
  • Regularly required to talk or hear
  • Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two years bank customer contact or retail sales experience preferred

  • Support and promote digital banking with knowledge of all online and app-based banking solutions, online/mobile banking setup, login, and password resets
  • Offer advice in using various digital solutions like bill pay, mobile deposit, alerts, online transfers, payments, etc.
  • Assist customers with processing transactions, such as deposits, withdrawals, or payments
  • Resolve complaints or account discrepancies and answer questions
  • Maintain and balance cash drawers and reconcile discrepancies
  • Assist with account maintenance including completion of credit card applications
  • Be proactive, using contact management methodology to build relationships over time
  • Identify opportunities for expanding customer relationships
  • Make next-best product recommendations
  • Solve issues or problems before they arise
  • Connect customers to experienced banking partners when appropriate
  • Meet quarterly banker minimum standards
  • Participate in sales, service and product training meetings and MBC@Work presentations

  • Maintain awareness of and adherence to Bank’s compliance requirements and risk management concepts, expectations, policies, and procedures and apply them to daily tasks
