About The Position

The Universal Banker serves members at the Newark and Phelps branches, with Phelps as the primary location and travel between both branches required. The role processes customer transactions efficiently, identifies members’ financial needs, recommends appropriate solutions, and builds long-term relationships while supporting business objectives and awareness of self-service and digital offerings. The employee performs both Teller and Relationship Banker responsibilities according to branch needs and learns a variety of banking functions.

Requirements

At least one year of sales or service experience in financial services or a comparable industry.
High school diploma or high school equivalency diploma.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Flexibility to support branch needs and current and future business needs.
Ability to build relationships with customers and peers.
Proficiency with PC applications.
Must submit an application and fingerprints to the NMLS and successfully register as an MLO through ESL.
Demonstrate alignment with ESL’s core values, mission, vision, and purpose.

Nice To Haves

Prior sales experience.
Understanding of banking products and services.
Notary; if not already qualified, obtain it within 12 months of filling the role.

Responsibilities

Create a positive face-to-face member experience.
Build long-lasting relationships with members.
Work in either a Teller or Relationship Banker capacity depending on branch needs.
Process member financial transactions, including payments, deposits, and withdrawals, in a timely manner.
Help members identify and obtain appropriate solutions for their financial needs.
Educate members about and refer them to products and services.
Assist members with accounts, loans, and account maintenance.
Support business objectives and increase awareness of ESL’s self-service and digital service offerings.
