About The Position

The Universal Banker engages with customers to establish rapport and encourage further engagement, while also assisting the team in achieving branch goals. This role requires providing excellent customer service, maintaining flexibility for branch staffing needs, and working independently to manage time effectively. The Universal Banker must follow policies and procedures, maintain accuracy, and contribute to branch meetings and culture. A key aspect of this role is promoting products and services based on customer needs, understanding their financial goals, and providing consultative advice. This includes assisting with account opening and maintenance, processing consumer loan applications and closings, and supporting digital banking solutions. The role also involves teller transaction processing, handling in-bound and out-bound calls, making referrals to business partners, and adhering to federal banking regulations such as BSA, USA Patriot Act, AML, and Notary Public requirements. The employee must stay aware of and adhere to the Bank's compliance requirements, risk management concepts, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and engage clients effectively
  • Technologically savvy with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and software
  • Problem-solving mindset and the ability to think critically under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate effectively within a team environment
  • Flexibility to work some weekends and evenings, as per business needs
  • Willing and able to work required overtime
  • Generally, the position will require 40 hours per week
  • Evenings and weekends may be required as necessary

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • A minimum of two years bank customer contact or retail sales experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers with processing transactions, such as deposits, withdrawals, or payments
  • Resolve complaints or account discrepancies and answer questions
  • Maintain and balance cash drawers and reconcile discrepancies
  • Assist with account maintenance including completion of credit card applications
  • Be proactive, using contact management methodology to build relationships over time
  • Identify opportunities for expanding customer relationships
  • Make next-best product recommendations
  • Solve issues or problems before they arise
  • Connect customers to experienced banking partners when appropriate
  • Meet quarterly banker minimum standards
  • Participate in sales, service and product training meetings and MBC@Work presentations
  • Gain knowledge of and adhere to BSA, USA Patriot Act, AML, and Notary Public
  • Maintain awareness of and adherence to Bank’s compliance requirements and risk management concepts, expectations, policies, and procedures and apply them to daily tasks
