POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Lead Personal Banker, the Universal Banker is responsible for building and maintaining strong customer relationships by accurately processing financial transactions, gathering customer information to identify and recommend bank products and services that will support banking needs, and assisting with the management of customer accounts to ensure an exceptional banking experience.

Requirements

  • Previous customer service and cash-handling experience required
  • Prior banking experience strongly preferred
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Interview new and existing customers to determine needs and gather information required to establish a banking relationship.
  • Present appropriate deposit product features along with fees and costs matching the customers’ needs to the product.
  • Follow policies and processes in validating identity, beneficial ownership, and completing risk assessment.
  • Prepare deposit documentation in accordance with bank policy.
  • Cross sell additional products and services by recognizing opportunities.
  • Explain new products and services and their features. (for example: Credit Cards, Merchant Services, ICS and CDARS).
  • Refer lending opportunities to the appropriate business partner.
  • Partner with Treasury Management team and refer cash management and remote deposit services.
  • Assist customers with inquiries (in person and phone) regarding interest rates, service charges and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations, and consumer privacy policies.
  • Provide electronic banking support for Banno Online and Mobile banking including Bill Pay, Remote Deposit, Digital Wallet, Bank to Bank Transfers, Person to Person Transfers, Zelle, and telephone banking.
  • Provide debit card support including completing an application and opt-in disclosure for card issuance.
  • Assist with requests to reissue, activation, PIN resets, temporary limit increases, and managing lost cards.
  • Ability to instant issue debit cards in locations with debit card printers.
  • Manage customer orders for services including but not limited to wire transfers, telephone transfers, stop payments, address changes, automatic fund transfers, check orders, and closing requests.
  • Manage and resolve customer complaints.
  • Utilize good judgment and understanding of bank policy to effectively make independent decisions to resolve customer issues when appropriate logging complaint into the Kadince system.
  • Assist Personal Banker with managing maturing CD contacts.
  • Maintain overdraft decisioning authority to partner with the Personal Banker in managing the daily overdraft report. Including management of aged overdrawn accounts.
  • Aid in fraud prevention through daily management of digital platforms along with account review and conversations in assisting customers with transactions and requests.
  • Assist customers with decedent distribution of deposit accounts, and initial documentation needs for closing decedent IRA and HSA accounts.
  • The ability to assist customers with teller-related requests as identified in the SFB Teller job description.
