Unitizer Operator -2nd Shift

The Unitizer Operator is responsible for operating a console that controls automatic strapping equipment to place strapping around units of corrugated paperboard products. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Safety sensitive position - ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business
- Ability to work on a rotating shift as needed
- Ability to effectively work in teams
- Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Ability to operate hand tools
Nice To Haves
- Industrial Truck Operator certificate desired
- Previous unitizer operator experience desired
- Previous automatic bander operator experience desired
Responsibilities
- Read load tag specifications to determine arrangement of strapping around units of corrugated paperboard products
- Observe stacks/units moving along conveyor to identify product and to detect defective product
- Apply dunnage to product to follow the specifications on the load tags
- Press console buttons to strap units/stacks to predetermined specifications
- Control conveyor that transfers strapped units/stacks to storage or delivery platform
- Stop equipment to clear jams
- Inform supervisor of in the event of equipment malfunction
- May keep records of production and equipment performance
- Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors
