About The Position

The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) is seeking an enthusiastic Researcher / Senior Researcher to join its Passenger Vehicles Program team, focusing on the United States. This role will contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and driving the electrification of the U.S. passenger vehicle fleet. The position involves leading new technical analyses on combustion and electric vehicle technology and cost to support environmental regulatory policymaking at federal and state levels, and expanding research on vehicle technology, charging infrastructure, and related policies. The role is based in either the San Francisco, CA or Washington, D.C. offices and reports to the United States Program Director.

Requirements

  • B.S. in engineering, environmental science or policy, transportation, or related field (Researcher Level)
  • 5+ years of applicable research experience (Researcher Level)
  • Ability to conduct technical analysis and write concise reports for a variety of audiences (Researcher Level)
  • Demonstrated skills in data collection, research, analytical methods, and drawing conclusions from analytical research (Researcher Level)
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal (Researcher Level)
  • Superior proficiency with MS Office and applicable data collection and analysis software (Researcher Level)
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing multiple large projects (Senior Researcher Level)
  • Demonstrated experience managing staff (Senior Researcher Level)

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering, environmental science or policy, transportation, or related field
  • Proficiency with EPA OMEGA and NHTSA CAFE models

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical research on conventional and electric light-duty vehicle technology and cost (Researcher Level)
  • Lead policy-relevant research projects on electrification and passenger vehicle efficiency (Researcher Level)
  • Collect data and maintain databases on vehicle technology (Researcher Level)
  • Conduct rigorous data and policy analysis (Researcher Level)
  • Write reports, blogs, and other materials for publication (Researcher Level)
  • Organize outreach activities, such as briefings, meetings, and workshops (Researcher Level)
  • Deliver internal and external presentations (Researcher Level)
  • Engage directly with policymakers, external stakeholders, and media (Researcher Level)
  • Develop and lead complex projects, including collaborations with multiple ICCT team members and external partners (Senior Researcher Level)
  • Lead the development of comprehensive strategies to influence specific policies on passenger vehicles (Senior Researcher Level)
  • Supervise and mentor ICCT interns, fellows, associate researchers, and researchers (Senior Researcher Level)
  • Manage other ICCT staff on collaborative projects (Senior Researcher Level)
