The Unit Supervisor is responsible for promoting core values such as safety first, leadership, accountability, employee involvement, commitment to excellence, integrity, responsibility, and value creation for partners. This role ensures direct reports and unit equipment comply with regulations, safety protocols, and quality procedures. The supervisor participates in monthly/quarterly inventories, internal and external audits, production planning, production meetings, and submitting production reports. Key duties include completing paperwork for loads and materials, supervising a crew of three or more, scheduling employee coverage and overtime with management approval, and communicating regularly with the Operations Coordinator regarding unit scheduling needs. The supervisor determines and communicates daily assignments based on employee availability, strengths, and company goals, ensuring effective communication within the team and proper cross-training of all employees. They also participate in daily communication with the Operations Coordinator to ensure smooth and safe unit operations, promote safe work habits through observation and training, and immediately report safety and compliance issues to management. Compliance with OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations is required, along with ensuring all unit areas are compliant. The role involves observing and assisting with chemical reactions, monitoring equipment, and making operational adjustments as needed. Responsibilities also include receiving raw materials, assisting with quality confirmation and inventory maintenance (including barge, railcar, tank truck, tote/drum quantities), overseeing loading and unloading of trucks, and loading finished products for transport when necessary. The supervisor pulls retain samples, maintains logs, and may perform chemical tests to ensure product specifications are met. Active participation in safety and quality meetings, completing all required training, and ensuring proper care and maintenance of unit equipment like forklifts and drum handling equipment are also essential. Other duties may be assigned by management.
