About The Position

The Unit Secretary reports to the Nurse Manager. Under general supervision, the Unit Secretary is accountable for performance of clerical work related to the nurses’ station. This position serves in the receptionist role at the nursing station; handles incoming and outgoing communications; processes physician’s orders; and maintains charts, records, supplies and, equipment. The Unit Secretary accurately performs computer related tasks. The Unit Secretary also assists in orienting and training new personnel. This role is the direct line of communication between the patient care unit and support services.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Basic keyboarding skills required.
  • Applicant must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 2 weeks of hire.
  • Must maintain a Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
