About The Position
Our Pediatric Cardiology and Nephrology unit is an 18 bed higher acuity unit located in our Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. The unit specializes in complex populations, including cardiology, nephrology, and burn patients. Other patients include stable trach/vents and neurosurgical patients requiring an external ventricular drain. Our team values the relationships they form with patients and families as they often have a longer stay on the unit and come back in the future due to their chronic conditions. The 7th floor prides themselves on their great culture of teamwork and support for one another. The team works closely with the PICU. We fight for every child. We believe in the possibility of every child's future. Because it's only impossible until it isn't. We have both inpatient and ambulatory spaces as well as a Level 1 trauma Emergency Department designated to children.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Nice To Haves
- 2 years of relevant related experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Performs receptionist/secretarial duties and maintains confidential records, supplies and equipment per hospital and unit specific standards.
- Greets and directs guests on the unit in a manner that reflects a welcoming environment.
- Performs computer entry, schedules tests/procedures, processes orders, and performs other related activities per unit/hospital standard within a reasonable time frame.
- Taking phone calls.
- Helping with directions to all visitors or outside team members to the unit (lab, radiology, patient transport, nutrition services, environmental services).
- Calling support when directed by clinical staff.
- Assisting with discharge, admit, and transfer paperwork.
- Ordering supplies.
- Ensuring rooms are appropriately stocked.
- Answering call lights for any non-direct patient care needs.
