About The Position
The Resource Center is comprised of Nurses, Nurse Techs, and Behavioral Health Techs who support the unit of greatest need each day at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital. Team members in this department care for various patient populations and gain experience supporting a different unit daily. Patients, families, and team members greatly value and appreciate the help and expertise the Resource Center team provides. It features both inpatient and ambulatory spaces, as well as a Level 1 trauma Emergency Department designated for children.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
Responsibilities
- Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
- Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.
- Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
- Takes vitals, checks blood sugars, performs bed baths, ambulates patients, assists with wound care, performs catheterization, and acts as a safety attendant for patients.
- Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
