About The Position

The Unit Secretary performs a variety of clerical tasks involved in preparing, maintaining and processing patient and unit activities, data and records.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience setting up and maintaining office system (organizational skills)
  • Previous experience with medical insurance, MIS, and medical terminology
  • Previous experience in a health care setting
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office software
  • Previous experience with use of EMR
  • Completion of a Medical Terminology course

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily activities with minimal supervision.
  • Be self-directed in the accomplishment of routine activities.
  • Bring issues involving violation of VCUHS policy or procedure, conflicts of a sensitive nature, or unusual issues to the attention of the Nurse Manager (or designee) promptly.
  • Handle, transport, access, and/or contact medications and related supplies.
