About The Position

Sodexo is seeking a Unit Safety Manager to drive a safety culture for our growing business within a Corporate Real Estate and Facilities Management client in the Los Angeles, CA area. This onsite role partners closely with site leadership and project management teams, with regular, hands-on engagement to support and advance safety culture, compliance, and risk mitigation efforts. Requirements

  • Knowledge of site-specific and OSHA 30 requirements
  • Ability to measure the effectiveness of Operational Excellence / HS&E strategies and programs in a fact-based and objective manner
  • Experience training staff, overseeing project work, proactive evaluation of potential hazards, thorough reporting, and safety communications
  • Unit-specific knowledge of policies and procedures for controlling occupational health, safety, and environmental hazards that come under Federal, State, and local regulations (e.g., Control of Hazardous Energy; Permit Required Confined Space Identification and Entry, Asbestos, Lead, Right to Know (GHS), Fall Prevention, Slips/Trips/Falls, Storm Water, etc.)
  • Experience completing Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental audits
  • Ability to recommend, justify, implement, and manage safety devices, equipment, and/or products that help protect employees and customers and mitigate losses
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum Management Experience - 5 years
  • Minimum Functional Experience – 3 years

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations for occupational health, safety, and environmental hazards (e.g., Hazardous Energy, Confined Space, Asbestos, Lead, Fall Prevention, etc.), and review unit-specific policies and procedures.
  • Train staff, oversee work, evaluate potential hazards proactively, and implement safety communications and reporting protocols.
  • Conduct audits, recommend and manage safety devices and equipment to protect employees and mitigate risks, and analyze chemical exposure to improve sustainability.
  • Measure the effectiveness of HS&E strategies, track accident trends, and produce progress reports to meet division objectives.
  • Serve as a liaison to external regulatory bodies, guide safety management and accident prevention, and support HS&E inspections and investigations.
