The Unit Receptionist Float will greet everyone who comes to the desk in a kind, pleasant, and courteous manner. This role involves placing name tags on patient stretchers/beds, answering the telephone and directing calls promptly and courteously, and paging physicians and other staff members as directed. The receptionist will also maintain logs, ensure paper forms are current and adequately supplied, and make frequent rounds to reconcile census. Effective communication with patients, visitors, and the healthcare team is essential. Responsibilities include preparing paperwork, coordinating transportation needs, and keeping track of patient movement in and out of the department. The ability to work efficiently in a high-stress environment is also required.
