About The Position

The Nurse Manager is responsible for managing and training all direct care staff and overseeing the health and wellness of residents. This role involves evaluating and regularly re-evaluating the nursing needs of clients, initiating and updating the plan of treatment, and administering direct resident services requiring specialized nursing skills. The Nurse Manager also communicates with co-workers to meet resident needs, reports changes in resident conditions, and carries out physician's orders effectively. Additionally, they are responsible for establishing a positive atmosphere for residents and promoting the company's mission of 'Promoting CARING is our Calling'.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse with an active license to practice in the state of Texas.
  • Minimum of three years in nursing experience in long-term or other health care setting.

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to ensure timely arrival and stable transportation.
  • Ability to move throughout the buildings and grounds as needed throughout the day.

  • Ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents, with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to themselves or others.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and managerial skills.
  • Excellent technical, assessment and documented skills.
  • Ability to organize work flow, respond to emergencies and note detail.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and training all direct care staff.
  • Overseeing the health and wellness of residents.
  • Evaluating and regularly re-evaluating the nursing needs of the client.
  • Initiating and/or updating the plan of treatment as directed by the D.O.N. and physician.
  • Reporting changes in resident's physical/emotional condition, reaction to medications and treatments, and signs and symptoms indicative of a complication to the Unit Manager and physician.
  • Administering direct resident services requiring specialized nursing skills.
  • Reporting accidents and incidents when they occur.
  • Carrying out physician's orders in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Communicating with co-workers at all levels to adequately meet the needs of residents.
  • Establishing and encouraging an atmosphere of optimism, warmth, and interest in residents' activity preferences and needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
