Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgical Unit
About The Position
Sentara is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for Sentara Norfolk General Hospital's Surgical Unit, in Norfolk Virginia. This is a full-time night shift position (7p-7a). The unit is a 42-bed specialized unit for Adult Surgical Patients, focusing on recovery from surgeries including Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Plastic Surgery, GYN Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Trauma Overflow. The unit also cares for patients with renal disease, diabetes, COPD, and heart failure, and is a telemetry-monitored unit. It includes 6 beds for Epilepsy monitoring and serves as the Living Kidney Donor Transplant Unit. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
Requirements
- RN Degree REQUIRED
- Virginia RN License REQUIRED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90-days of hire
- All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.

- Prior RN experience PREFERRED
