About The Position

Work with a purpose! North Central Correctional Complex in Marion, Ohio, is now hiring career-minded people to assist with securing the safety of our community while positively impacting the lives of those on the inside. This position reports to the deputy warden, operations, and directly supervises unit managers. The Unit Management Administrator is responsible for the daily operations of the unit management department and housing units of the facility in accordance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC) directives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two (2) years of counseling or related correctional experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of Ohio with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
  • Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisor experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in a related area.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the programmatic functions of the unit management staff.
  • Provide assistance to the job development staff in preparing offenders for release.
  • Conduct staff development training for the case managers.
  • Participate in the program planning process for the offender.
  • Maintain communications with all other departments and participate on the program team.
  • Provide direct aid to the inmates with personal needs or problems.
  • Review detailed background files, and conduct personal interviews and recommend a program for each assigned inmate.
  • Provide continuous educational, vocational, personal and social adjustment counseling on an individual and group basis.
  • Recommend necessary program modifications throughout each inmate's assigned stay.
  • Utilize new concepts and approaches; recommend and conduct training sessions and conferences to develop greater proficiency among staff in the areas of guidance and social adjustment.
  • Recommend medical and psychiatric evaluation for emotional or psychological problems.
  • Evaluate results and take remedial action as warranted.
  • Provide staff with the necessary community resources registry that will help in the transition of the inmate.
  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
  • Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property.
  • Adhere to safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
