About The Position

The work involves assisting nurses and other members of staff by performing routine non-nursing services for patients. Work is performed under the immediate supervision of a nurse or other professional employee. Does related work as required.

Requirements

  • Ability to function calmly under stressful conditions and adapt to frequent interruptions.
  • Willingness to carry out delegated tasks.
  • Ability to be tactful and diplomatic in dealing with residents, visitors, doctors and nursing facility personnel.
  • Ability to carry out written and oral technical instructions.
  • Ability to get along well with others and to secure cooperation of patients.
  • Interest in hospital work.
  • Neatness and good appearance.
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
  • High school graduate or any equivalent combination of training or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Transport residents by wheelchair to other areas, i.e. hairdresser, activities on other units, therapies etc.
  • Pass clothing protectors and set up meal trays, pass ice water, wipe solarium tables and sweep floor after meals.
  • Make unoccupied beds, tidying residents unit including closets; do complete bed changes on bath day and as needed.
  • Replace utensils and supplies in bedside stand label with name and room number.
  • Clean equipment such as wheelchairs, geri-chairs, walkers and shower chairs.
  • Keep clean and soiled utility rooms, bathing area, and solarium neat and in order.
  • Make deliveries, run errands to other areas in facility as requested.
  • Alert staff about call bells and equipment alarms, IMMEDIATELY report emergency needs to appropriate staff.
  • Perform other duties only as indicated by Professional Nursing staff.
  • Check and replace glove boxes as needed.
