About The Position
This position is located at our Bayou La Batre, AL facility. Our Helpers are an integral piece of our work on a daily basis.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Fundamental knowledge in marine or manufacturing industry
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools under supervision
- Assist welders, fitters, pipefitters, electricians, and other trades as directed
- Move, stage, and secure materials, tools, and equipment throughout the shipyard
- Clean and prepare work areas, including ships, compartments, and shop spaces
- Grind, chip, and remove slag, rust, paint, or debris as instructed
- Set up and break down work platforms, scaffolding, and temporary structures
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools under supervision
- Support hot work, confined space, and shipboard operations per safety procedures
- Follow all shipyard safety rules, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations
- Perform fire watch duties when qualified
- Assist with rigging, lifting, and material handling operations
