About The Position

Directs/manages overall daily operations of the designated Clubhouse with the primary concern for programs and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, facilities management, community relations and membership administration. Establishes Unit programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and that create a club environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes. Ensures a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained. Plans, develops, implements and evaluates Unit overall programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests. Compiles regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation. Manages Unit financial resources, assisting in the development of annual budgets. Controls expenditures against budget. Ensures administrative and operational systems are in place to maintain the operation of the physical properties and equipment of the Club, including use of facilities by outside groups. Recruits, manages and provides career development opportunities for unit staff and volunteers. Conducts regular staff meetings. Develops partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations. Recruits and retains appropriate amount of youth into program according to the overall vision and expectations of the club. Develops and maintains public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community. Maintains close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discusses issues, and provides/receives information. Maintains regular contact with Unit Boards to advise and counsel as needed. Maintains regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advise, and counsel. Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club. Unit Directors are responsible for ensuring their clubs are viewed as a HUB of the community. These clubs represent our club as a whole and must be visible at community events, neighborhood meetings, advisory council meetings, etc.

Requirements

  • Experience working with youth and understanding of youth development
  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • A minimum of five years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Negative TB test
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Background check clearance
  • NCLB certification required
  • Understanding of the developmental needs of young people.
  • Knowledge of facilities management
  • Knowledge of budget preparation, control and management.
  • Motivational: Able to inspire club staff and members to reach a goal and/or perform to the best of their ability
  • Decision-making : Able to formulate sound approaches to problems using the available information
