About The Position

This UNIT DEPLOYMENT MANAGER position is located within an Air National Guard (ANG) Force Support Squadron, Commander's Support Staff (CSS) and is part of the CA 146 AW. This is a T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE POSITION. The indefinite appointment cannot exceed 5 years. The selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or the position becomes unencumbered. The primary purpose of the UNIT DEPLOYMENT MANAGER, GS-0301-9, is to function as the Unit Deployment Manager (UDM), responsible for executing, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of personnel and equipment readiness and deployment planning in support of Air Force Force Generation (AFFORGEN) requirements. The hiring unit may make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

Requirements

  • Must be a member of the California National Guard.
  • Must wear the military uniform.
  • Must maintain a compatible military assignment and grade (E-1 through E-6).
  • Must maintain an appropriate level of security clearance (National Agency Check required).
  • Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards.
  • Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in planning, organizing, and overseeing all unit level deployment activities.
  • Must have experience reviewing deployment documents to identify personnel and equipment taskings.
  • Must have experience maintaining deployment equipment readiness.
  • Must be registered with the Military Selective Service Act if a male applicant born after 12/31/1959.

Nice To Haves

  • Individuals who are initially appointed to a permanent or indefinite position in the CMD must complete a one (1) or two (2) year trial period subject to appointment type (DSMT or T5) and veteran's preference.
  • Military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 180 days in any continuous 12-month period).

  • Plan, organize, and oversee all unit level deployment activities.
  • Review deployment documents to identify personnel and equipment taskings.
  • Maintain deployment equipment readiness.
