The Post Partum unit is seeking a medical professional to work as a Unit Coordinator. This role provides administrative support to unit-based and hospital-wide clinicians and staff in an inpatient unit, functioning as the liaison between the patient, visitors, and the clinicians. The Unit Coordinator is expected to effectively organize priorities, complete tasks on time, and manage confidential patient information. This role partners with nursing to coordinate the day-to-day patient flow, including communication to key players regarding patient admissions, discharges, and transfers. The position also involves providing outstanding service for every customer interaction. Actual job duties may vary by department. The Unit Coordinator performs clerical and other duties to assist in the general administration of the floor or unit, greets and interacts with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers professionally, and receives, prioritizes, organizes, and manages information at the central nursing station and throughout the unit. Additionally, they schedule consultations, tests, procedures, and patient transport, and enter accurate and timely information into the electronic medical record regarding admissions, discharges, and transfers. The role involves contacting ancillary service departments for equipment, services, and supplies, tracking their status and location, and using designated processes for identifying and facilitating repairs. The Unit Coordinator may also assist the manager with payroll duties, staff scheduling, or supervision of unit secretaries, depending on the department. The position requires compliance with all policies and standards.
