About The Position

The Unit Clerk offers an exceptional patient experience for patients of Cardiopulmonary Department services. Performs a variety of clerical tasks and receptionist functions related to patient check-in and discharge processes. The Unit Clerk welcomes visitors, patients and staff members in person or via telephone and provides information as requested. The ideal candidate builds and maintains an effective rapport with patients, providers, coworkers and community members. Performs secretarial functions for the Cardiopulmonary Department which includes Respiratory Therapy, Exercise Physiology/Cardiac Rehab, and the Sleep Lab. Liaises with the Centralized Scheduling department regarding Cardiopulmonary scheduling needs. Greets patients upon arrival, notifies Cardiopulmonary staff and communicates any delays to patient, answers multiline telephone system and relaying messages. Monitoring Cardiopulmonary schedules and calendars. Distributes and receives information in a variety of formats including phone, email, and fax. Scans paperwork into electronic systems as needed. Maintains positive, professional and helpful demeanor in performing tasks. Performs tasks related to patient needs as a priority. Processes reports and sends to proper destinations. Retrieves and processes departmental mail and maintains patient forms. Orders office supplies as needed. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years experience in a medical office setting preferred.
