About The Position

The Unit Clerk - Skilled Nursing provides administrative and clerical support to the nursing unit to promote efficient operations and quality resident care. Responsibilities include transcribing physician orders, maintaining resident medical records, coordinating appointments, communicating with physicians and families, and supporting the interdisciplinary team in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and facility policies.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
Ability to multitask and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Previous clerical experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting preferred.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical records preferred.

Responsibilities

Accurately transmit physician orders into the electronic medical record.
Maintain current and accurate resident charts and documentation.
Schedule resident appointments with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers.
Coordinate transportation for appointments and communicate appointment details to residents, families, and staff.
Notify families or responsible parties of scheduled appointments and updates, as appropriate.
Upload, scan, and file consultation reports, test results, and other medical documentation into the electronic medical record.
Communicate with physician offices, hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, and other healthcare providers.
Answer phones, route calls, and provide general clerical support to the nursing unit.
Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge paperwork as assigned.
Maintain confidentiality of resident information and comply with HIPAA and facility policies.
Perform other clerical and administrative duties as assigned.
