About The Position

The 6 North Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a 20-bed unit specializing in cardiac patients, Heart Failure patients, and medical/surgical patients requiring cardiac monitoring. This role coordinates non-clinical support functions for the nursing unit, acting as a liaison between nursing and ancillary departments to ensure smooth unit operations and issue resolution. The Unit Clerk will communicate with the Nurse Manager regarding interdepartmental issues and contribute to resolution plans, while also demonstrating unit-specific competencies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year related healthcare or clerical experience.
• Computer proficiency in document and spread sheet preparation, use of e-mail.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload.
• Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with a wide range of Health System staff, patients and visitors.
• Decision-making skills needed in urgent situations.
• Flexibility and the ability to work under stress.
• Ability to work with limited direction.
• Problem solving ability to resolve daily operational issues.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates non-clinical support functions for assigned nursing unit.
• Assists in maintaining an orderly unit operation.
• Serves as liaison between nursing and ancillary departments for information or issue resolution.
• Communicates with Nurse Manager on outstanding interdepartmental issues and participates in a plan to resolve.
• Demonstrates unit/area designated competencies.
