Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise is looking to hire a Unit Clerk to join our Boise Emergency Department. We are looking for a person with a self-driven attitude and a desire to learn. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Requires basic Medical Terminology and Anatomy.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital or medical office experience preferred.
  • Advanced classes in Medical Terminology and Anatomy preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support professional staff in the coordination and completion of non-clinical functions.
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding patient information, messages, and medical documentation.
  • Maintain Electronic Medical Records.
  • Facilitate smooth operation of the unit.
  • Meet Health System's Guiding Behaviors and Caring Standards including interpersonal communication and professional conduct expectations.
  • Ensure the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients.
  • Understand department charges.
  • Perform charge capture and reconciliation processes, as directed.
  • Demonstrate ability to look up information in Powerchart.
  • Attend charge capture education offerings and complete written education as directed to ensure competencies.
  • Maintain the Laptop Charging/ Storage center in area; keep batteries and devices charged, return devices to charging bay after use and maintain physical security.
  • Act as a central point of contact for Resolution Center and Desktop Technicians to coordinate repair.
  • Create tickets with the Resolution Center when devices need service or to report a problem.
  • Inventory devices assigned to the unit and communicate with other Device Coordinators on device "whereabouts".
  • Perform basic trouble shooting techniques on computer devices.
  • Answer basic device questions.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and professional staff.
  • Receive data and ensure that appropriate processing occurs.
  • Assemble and disassemble patients' charts upon admission and discharge.
  • Prepare patient charts for transfers to other units.
  • Remove non controlled medications from deliver points (such as tube stations) and hand directly to RN or place in secure location.
