About The Position

This role is responsible for processing orders and patient charges accurately and efficiently, managing patient communication through answering phones and call lights, and directing visitors. The Unit Clerk CNA will also maintain medical records, manage unit supplies, and provide direct patient care as assigned, adhering to established standards and policies. This position involves maintaining a clean work environment, floating to different units as needed, and participating in performance improvement activities. Additionally, the role focuses on verifying charge accuracy, creating a welcoming atmosphere, and assembling patient charts and folders. Setup for new staff using specific systems is also a responsibility.

Requirements

  • Completion of a CNA program.
  • Completion of a Unit Clerk course or equivalent on the job training (which can be provided).
  • Nursing Assistant Certification in applicable state.
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Processes orders and patient charges in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Answers the telephone and call lights in an appropriate and timely manner, providing information or relaying messages to patients and staff.
  • Directs visitors to patients' rooms.
  • Maintains medical records of current patients.
  • Maintains supplies, including scanning, stocking, and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
  • Provides patient care as assigned and per routine, according to standards of care, shift routines, and policies and procedures according to CNA job duties and expectations.
  • Documents care provided according to standards.
  • Maintains a clean work and patient environment.
  • Floats to various units based on identified needs.
  • Participates in department and unit performance improvement activities.
  • Verifies accuracy of charges entered.
  • Facilitates a welcoming environment assisting with visitor wayfinding.
  • Assemble patient folders and charts for unit.
  • Rauland responder/Vocera/versus set up for new staff.
