About The Position

This role provides essential administrative and operational support within the Trauma ICU department. The Unit Assistant will coordinate patient care operations by managing appointments, processing orders, and facilitating patient transitions. They will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and complete patient charts, optimizing daily workflow through schedule management and communication, and serving as the primary point of contact for the clinical area. Additionally, the Unit Assistant will ensure scheduling accuracy by maintaining timekeeping changes and staff schedules in the system.

Requirements

  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • 1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting or as a Health Unit Coordinator.
  • Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to manage appointments, navigate order entry processes, and facilitate smooth patient transitions.
  • Assemble and manage clinical records to ensure documentation is timely, complete, and readily accessible for the care team.
  • Manage schedules, coordinate room bookings, and handle essential communication to ensure clinical activities run efficiently.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the clinical area by screening calls, greeting visitors, and handling daily correspondence.
  • Maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in the system to support operational accuracy.
