Unit Assistant I - Emergency Department - Evenings
About The Position
This is a Part-Time Evening shift position for a Unit Assistant I in the Emergency Department, working Saturdays and Sundays from 12 PM to 12 AM at UAB St. Vincent's Blount in Oneonta, AL. The role involves performing administrative and clerical duties to support the clinical area, including greeting patients and visitors, managing phone calls, filing, distributing mail, communicating with patients and healthcare team members, scheduling appointments, assisting with order entry, maintaining patient charts, coordinating meetings, and managing timekeeping and staff schedules.
Requirements
- High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Responsibilities
- Perform administrative and clerical duties in support of an assigned clinical area.
- Greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route telephone calls, file, distribute mail and perform other general clerical duties.
- Communicate with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care according to protocol.
- Schedule patients for individual appointments in a timely manner.
- Provide assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through the order entry processes, transfers and discharges.
- Assemble and maintain patient charts.
- Coordinate meetings/schedule meetings/rooms with the appropriate person, send notices as requested.
- Maintain meeting minutes.
- Enter and maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.
