This role involves maintaining stands and hardware, performing maintenance on chain-driven stands, servicing and replacing damaged parts, and performing major repairs on miscellaneous equipment. The position requires logging all repairs, inputting accurate information for metrics, and following up on older repairs. The technician will also advise management of equipment misuse, complete loss and damage paperwork, evaluate extensive repairs, and maintain an organized work area. Additionally, the role involves managing spare part inventory, rotating throughout the department as needed, assisting other departments, identifying sub-rental equipment, and ensuring WSIB compliance. The technician will also organize grip and stand equipment and perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Must be proficient in the use of small tools and their proper application.
  • Must have knowledge in mechanical repairs and servicing.
  • This can be a physically demanding job.
  • The successful candidate will be provided with forklift and order picker training and will be expected to operate a forklift, order picker, or pallet jack when required.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Must have excellent communication and numeric skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain stands and hardware, checking for serviceability and ensuring that they meet or exceed the manufacturers operating specifications.
  • Perform maintenance on chain driven stands to ensure they are operating within allowed tolerances.
  • Service and replace all damaged stand parts including risers, supports, and bases.
  • Process equipment in a safe and efficient manner, cleaning and lubricating all parts to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Perform major repairs to miscellaneous equipment such as hardware and associated accessories.
  • Log all repairs into RTPro under the repair ticket module.
  • Input accurate information regarding all repairs to gain metrics on the type of repairs and frequency and cause of the breakdowns.
  • Follow up on older repairs to ensure all tickets have been closed once the repairs are completed.
  • Advise Manager, Maintenance of problems arising due to improper use of the equipment.
  • Complete Loss and Damage information paperwork, give to Manager for pricing and distribution.
  • Receive all extensive repairs from Stand Technician Triage and evaluate further to determine necessary repairs.
  • Maintain a neat and efficient work area ensuring stand shelves and hardware areas in a tidy and organized.
  • Keep up to date records for all spare part inventory and inform grip supervisor on any stock level concerns.
  • Rotate throughout the department to help when required.
  • Assist Rental/Commercial Department personnel when required.
  • Identify Sub-rental equipment and relocate to relevant area.
  • Ensure that all WSIB requirements are complied with.
  • Organize grip and stand equipment on the warehouse shelving so that it is displayed in a neat and orderly fashion when time permits.
  • Other duties as required.
