About The Position
The Union - Sales Counter Associate sells merchandise to customers over the counter, provides customer service, and facilitates sales by applying knowledge of the products sold. The role includes helping customers select appropriate products, processing sales and payments, maintaining merchandise displays and counter inventory, and safeguarding cash and shipping-ticket audit copies.
Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent.
- One year of experience in warehouse work, counter sales, or as a customer service representative.
- Ability to evaluate products in terms of customer needs and understand how to apply products.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Internet use.
Responsibilities
- Suggest product selections that meet customers’ needs and emphasize the quality, utility, and other selling points of items.
- Prepare sales slips.
- Receive payment or obtain credit authorization.
- Place new merchandise on display.
- Review and maintain counter inventory levels.
- Recommend new stock items by completing the necessary forms.
- Maintain the security of the cash drawer and shipping ticket audit copies.
