About The Position

This position is for a Union Laborer (Job Code 179) who will report to the Superintendent or Foreman. The role involves a variety of tasks on a jobsite, including material handling, scaffold erection and dismantling, and general site cleanup. The laborer must adhere to all safety regulations, including OSHA standards, and may be required to obtain a CDL license for material delivery. Knowledge of construction equipment operation, such as forklifts, is also necessary. The position requires the ability to calculate unit costs, arrive at work on time at various locations, and participate in company training programs and policies.

Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to learn company safety policies and applicable OSHA standards.
  • Ability to distinguish various tools and materials.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to accurately measure material.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment, with frequent one-on-one and group interaction.
  • Ability to work on ladders, scaffolds, and stilts.
  • Knowledge and ability to erect and dismantle scaffolds.
  • Must conform to D.O.T. standards in §391.41, Subpart E, of physical and mental capabilities, including vision of at least 20/40 in each eye without corrective lenses, and hearing capacity under number 11 of the subpart.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the receiving and distribution of materials and equipment on the jobsite.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffold.
  • Deliver materials as scheduled.
  • Clean up, protect, move material, tools & equipment.
  • Conform to all safety rules and regulations of the Company and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to obtain a CDL license for delivery of materials.
  • Knowledge of operation of construction equipment (such as forklifts) on jobsites.
  • Calculate unit costs based on quantity of materials installed, hours worked, and labor dollars.
  • Arrive at work on time, at various locations.
  • Attend and participate in all required company training programs.
  • Conform to all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
