About The Position

Coordinate and facilitate the Unified Indoor Bocce intramural program for students in grades 6–8 during an 8–10 week season. Schedule and supervise practices and games one or two times per week, ensuring students participate for a minimum of 75 minutes each week. Recruit and support student participation by maintaining the required balance of Special Olympics-eligible athletes and students without intellectual or developmental disabilities. Organize and manage Unified Sports teams, coordinating a minimum of two teams and, when appropriate, expanding the program to four to six teams with equal representation of participating student groups. Promote an inclusive athletic environment that emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, friendship, respect, and meaningful participation for all students. Complete required Special Olympics Pennsylvania training, including the free Unified Sports online course and any additional required training. Manage program logistics and documentation, including equipment, schedules, rosters, communication, attendance, and other responsibilities associated with the Unified Sports program. Establish and facilitate an Inclusive Youth Leadership Club comprised of students with and without intellectual disabilities, with meetings occurring at least once or twice per month. Develop student leadership opportunities that empower students with and without disabilities to work collaboratively in planning and leading activities that promote acceptance, respect, and inclusion. Facilitate a minimum of four whole-school engagement activities planned and conducted by the Inclusive Youth Leadership Club to improve school climate and promote respect and acceptance. Collaborate with school staff and Special Olympics Pennsylvania personnel to access program resources, materials, technical support, and activity ideas to strengthen Unified Sports and inclusive leadership initiatives. Promote and support a culture of inclusion throughout the school, encouraging student voice, belonging, acceptance, and meaningful participation for all students.

Requirements

Must complete required Special Olympics Pennsylvania training, including the free Unified Sports online course and any additional required training.
