About The Position

This role is responsible for establishing and building relationships with local social service agencies and directing unhoused individuals and others in need to agencies and programs that can provide necessary resources, such as crisis intervention. The position requires excellent communication and hospitality skills, the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, and a Nevada Driver's License with a clean driving record. The role involves patrolling a district on foot or bike, identifying individuals in need, introducing them to established programs, and fostering mutual respect to reduce the public nuisance perception of homelessness. Additionally, the ambassador will develop relationships with city, county, and state agencies, observe and report unwanted behaviors or criminal activity, provide directions and information to the public, create detailed incident reports, and maintain a professional environment.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Excellent communication skills
Ability to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles, and other similar identifiers
Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
Nevada Driver's License Required with Clean Driving record
Hospitality skills are required
Ability to work outdoors in ALL weather conditions

Responsibilities

Actively identify those in need and establish relationships.
Introduce individuals to established programs and agencies that can help meet their needs.
Work towards establishing mutual respect to reduce the public nuisance perception of homelessness.
Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with city, county, and state agencies that respond to the needs of the homeless and neediest of the community.
Strive towards a cooperative effort to make a positive impact on homelessness in the district.
Patrol the district on bike or foot to locate and reach out to those in need, as well as to direct those in public spaces to services or more suitable locations.
While on patrol, be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios.
While on patrol, go out of the way to actively acknowledge pedestrians with a friendly greeting or identify visitors in order to provide directions, information, city information or recommendations.
Create written, detailed, and accurate Incident reports.
Provide accurate descriptions of persons, vehicles and other similar identifiers to law enforcement and others when needed.
Maintain a helpful, positive, and professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and overall Block by Block standards of expected professionalism.
