About The Position

Sustainment & Restoration Services (SRS) is a Native American, tribally-owned small business that provides full-service, multi-discipline environmental, engineering, construction support, munitions response, and specialized professional services. SRS has an immediate opening for an Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Technician Level I / II in Bridgeport, Connecticut. This role involves working on a project with an approximate duration of 15–20 workdays, starting on July 5, 2026.

Requirements

  • Meet the minimum qualifications for personnel conducting MEC-related activities in accordance with Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board Technical Paper 18 (DDESB TP-18).
  • Meet medical surveillance and training requirements under the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Standard (29 CFR 1910.120).
  • Possess a valid driver's license and the ability to safely operate passenger vehicles and light trucks.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions and perform physically demanding field activities.
  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and regulatory compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supporting military munitions response or unexploded ordnance projects.
  • Experience operating magnetometers, earth-moving equipment, or other field investigation equipment.
  • Current HAZWOPER certification.
  • Experience working on federal environmental remediation or military construction projects.
  • Prior Department of Defense munitions response experience.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all Site-Specific Safety and Health Plans (SSHP), Work Plans (WP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA), project addenda, and directions provided by the Senior Unexploded Ordnance Supervisor (SUXOS).
  • Conduct magnetometer-assisted searches for Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) and Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH).
  • Perform manual and mechanized processing of MPPEH.
  • Assist with explosive venting of MPPEH and explosive destruction of MEC in accordance with project requirements and safety protocols.
  • Load Material Documented as Safe (MDAS) into transportation containers using manual and mechanical methods.
  • Operate motor vehicles, mechanized equipment, earth-moving machinery, and hand tools in accordance with training, qualifications, and authorizations.
  • Perform daily inspections, cleaning, maintenance, and adjustments of assigned tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Participate in daily housekeeping activities and secure all project equipment and materials at the conclusion of work activities.
  • Support project operations while maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and company safety requirements.
