This position helps lead and support the Contribution section of the Unemployment Insurance (UI) program. This job helps run the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Contribution Section by supporting the UI Administrator and supervising staff. The manager makes sure employer contribution accounts are handled correctly, provides guidance on policies and procedures, and answers the most complex questions from employers, the public, and legal representatives. The role involves reviewing data to evaluate program performance, monitoring the section’s budget, preparing reports, and suggesting improvements to operations and systems. The manager also develops or updates policies, helps create and deliver staff training, coordinates work with other areas inside and outside the agency, and represents the section at meetings. Additional duties include attending trainings or events, preparing official responses, and maintaining records and documentation. The Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations (OUIO) administers Ohio's unemployment insurance program, which provides short-term income to unemployed workers who lose their jobs through no fault of their own. It reduces the hardship felt by families during periods of temporary unemployment and bolsters the local economies by maintaining the purchasing power of the unemployed worker. Requirements

  • Option 1 : 12 months experience as and Unemployment Insurance Supervisor OR Option 2: 36 months experience or training in government laws, rules, regulations, &/or procedures governing unemployment insurance. AND 12 months experience in supervisory principles/techniques OR Option 3: Completion of undergraduate core program in public or business administration. AND 12 months training or experience in government laws, rules, regulations, &/or procedures governing unemployment insurance AND 12 months experience in supervisory principles/techniques OR Option 4: Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
  • Technical and Regulatory Skills - Ability to analyze problems, gather data, interpret facts and make sound decisions.
  • Leadership and Supervisory Skills, including skill in handling sensitive or challenging interactions with employers, claimants and the public.
  • Strong communication skills for responding to technical inquiries and preparing accurate reports and correspondence.
  • Training and Policy Development skills.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and use relevant software applications for data tracking, reporting and communication.
