About The Position

The Underwriting Territory Manager serves as both a production underwriter and business leader responsible for driving new business growth, managing underwriting talent, and expanding the Cyber Risk Division's presence throughout the East Coast territory. This role will lead a small team of underwriters while maintaining a strong market-facing presence, leveraging deep cyber expertise and broker relationships to build a profitable portfolio. The successful candidate will play a critical role in executing growth strategies, developing distribution partnerships, and helping shape the future direction of a rapidly growing cyber business. This is a remote position based on the East Coast with significant travel throughout the territory to support broker engagement, business development, and team leadership initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in insurance, risk management, finance, or a related field.
  • Generally, 5+ years of Cyber underwriting experience preferred; candidates with substantial expertise in specialty Property & Casualty lines will also be considered.
  • Generally, 2-4+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated success developing, coaching, and managing a high-performing underwriting team.
  • Strong technical underwriting expertise with experience handling complex cyber risks and larger accounts.
  • Established broker relationships and a demonstrated ability to generate opportunities through market engagement and business development activities.
  • Strong communication, strategic planning, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to travel up to 50% throughout the East Coast territory.

Responsibilities

  • Drive profitable new business production and territory expansion across the East Coast region.
  • Lead, coach, and develop an underwriting team while fostering accountability, engagement, and high performance.
  • Underwrite complex Cyber Risk accounts and provide technical guidance on challenging submissions and referrals.
  • Execute underwriting strategies that support profitable growth, portfolio diversification, and market expansion.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with retail and wholesale brokers to identify and secure new business opportunities.
  • Leverage existing market relationships and industry connections to strengthen distribution partnerships and drive production results.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, including rate adequacy, retention, loss trends, and exposure management, and recommend corrective actions when needed.
  • Ensure consistent application of underwriting guidelines, pricing discipline, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze market conditions, competitive trends, and emerging cyber exposures to inform territory strategy and business planning.
  • Represent the division at industry events, broker meetings, and client-facing engagements to enhance market visibility and brand presence.
  • Manage territory results and operating expenses in accordance with divisional financial objectives.
