About The Position

Join Amwins Self-Funded, LLC., as an Underwriting Operations Specialist. The Underwriting Operations Specialist provides foundational support to the underwriting team by coordinating proposal materials, organizing data, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout the sales and renewal process. This role is designed as a learning and development position, giving team members hands-on exposure to the underwriting process while building the skills and knowledge required to grow into a full Underwriter role. This is an in-office position that offers flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week after the completion of training.

Requirements

  • A college degree or equivalent work experience is strongly preferred.
  • Insurance and/or Underwriting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Must be customer service oriented.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft office products including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Comfortable working in evolving, technology-driven environments, including the adoption of new tools, systems, and AI-enabled workflows; able to adapt quickly as processes and responsibilities change.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage time, prioritize workload and meet deadlines in fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills: ability to work cooperatively and jointly with various staff members.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, with internal and external parties.
  • Sense of urgency and attention to detail are necessities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist underwriters in preparing RFP responses, renewal packets, and proposals for both new business and existing clients.
  • Examine incoming prospects and renewal data for completeness and accuracy before submission to stop-loss markets.
  • Assist with network analyses, utilization summaries, and quote spreadsheet preparation.
  • Maintain organized files of historical client and proposal data for business analysis and reference.
  • Interact internally with brokers, third-party administrators, and carrier partners as directed by the underwriting team.
  • Monitor and follow up on outstanding submissions and renewal responses.
  • Provide general administrative and data support to ensure deadlines are met and deliverables are accurate.
  • Engage in training, team meetings, and workflow improvement initiatives to develop technical knowledge and business understanding.
