Underwriting Intern - Commercial Lines
About The Position

As an Underwriting Intern, you’ll be joining a collaborative team in our Commercial Lines Underwriting Department. During your internship, you’ll receive all the support you need to be successful including on-the-job training and mentorship from our talented team members. You won’t just be job shadowing, you’ll be doing real work through a series of projects and tasks designed by our senior leadership team. Our 11 week program is structured to provide you with a well-rounded education in the insurance industry and an opportunity to explore the many career paths our company has to offer. The goal of our program is to provide you with all the fundamentals you need to pursue a role with Concord Group Insurance post-graduation!
Requirements
- A strong desire to learn!
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work as part of a team.
- Proven organizational skills
- Effective communication skills including the ability to present and share information, and report analytical findings
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
- At least a 3.0 GPA
- Study focus in the following areas: Business Administration, Business Management, or Risk Management
Responsibilities
- Reviewing New Business, Renewals and Inspections
- Participating in large loss reviews
- Joining our Marketing team on agency visits
- Completing detailed, industry specific training, including coursework from AINS
- Contributing to special projects developed by Underwriting Leadership
- Helping us build an even better internship experience through your insights and feedback!
- Presenting your work, skills, achievements and experience to our senior leadership team at the conclusion of your summer internship
