Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented below is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well. Salary range (but not limited to): 47,100 - 57,500 About the role We're looking for an Underwriting Assistant, Commercial Lines to join our P&C underwriting team for a 12-month secondment/temporary position! This full-time hybrid position will require you to be in office two (2) days per week and is available at our office located in Calgary or Edmonton AB.

Requirements

  • 1 year of underwriting experience required
  • Strong typing skills to process daily work
  • Highly organized to manage workflow efficiently without continuous supervision
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Initiative and ability to work under pressure
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools
  • Team player
  • A passion for learning and desire to grow within the department
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with previous Commercial Lines P&C experience will be prioritized

Responsibilities

  • Handle insurance policy endorsements and cancellations
  • Answer straightforward inquiries from brokers promptly and courteously
  • Assist Underwriters with the administration of complex policies
  • Apply underwriting strategies in accordance with company guidelines and personal underwriting authority limits
  • Support brokers regarding underwriting and rating policies
  • Work closely to develop and maintain positive business partnerships with brokers and co-workers
  • Use the computer system for policy inquiry, electronic filing, underwriting and rating transactions
  • Make recommendations to improve the department and increase its efficiency
  • Embark on continuous learning and development opportunities to enhance your technical skills and contribute to personal and professional growth
