About The Position

You’re a skilled communicator known for your ability to clearly present ideas to diverse audiences, whether or not they share your level of business communication expertise. In this role, you’ll collect and analyze data to identify issues such as deficient controls, duplicated efforts, or non-compliance with underwriting policies and regulations. You’ll review new and renewal business for adherence to underwriting rules, conduct pre-implementation audits, and recommend improvements to enhance clarity, efficiency, and consistency in processes and systems. You’ll also develop comprehensive management reports and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support organizational excellence.

  • A post-secondary degree in Business, Accounting and/or a related field.
  • 8 years of related Automobile and Property insurance underwriting experience.
  • Technologically savvy and proficient with Microsoft Office Programs and automated systems.
  • Experience in insurance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • FCIP or CIP designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada.
  • Auditing courses to obtain an Auditor Training Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Supervisor of Corporate Underwriting.
  • Collect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and underwriting policies.
  • Determine if new or renewal business is rated in accordance with underwriting rules and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct pre-implementation audits to determine if systems and programs under development will be successful.
  • Recommend improvements to existing procedures, system functionality and underwriting manuals to provide more clarity and consistency.
  • Develop comprehensive management reports to support recommendations for improvements in workflow processes and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain positive business relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
