About The Position

The Underwriting Analyst position involves organizing and coordinating the servicing of new and renewal accounts according to Company guidelines and instructions from assigned Underwriter. The role requires providing high-quality professional service to Companies. Essential duties include entering new submissions, preparing and modeling new and renewal business, reviewing and processing policies, endorsements, audits, cancellations, and other servicing requests. The analyst will also handle invoicing, produce cancellation and non-renewal notices, manage underwriting files, maintain pending/suspense systems, and ensure account files are kept in accordance with company policy.

Requirements

  • College degree with a concentration in business or equivalent work experience
  • Able to understand and analyze necessary components of insurance policies/certificates
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting processes, including classification principles, rating, contract administration, proposal/new business/renewal issuance and property valuations
  • Knowledge of commercial multi-line underwriting and rating
  • Ability to use company automation systems
  • Ability to develop, foster and maintain an excellent working relationship with clients
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to maintain current knowledge of the insurance industry
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products
  • Ability to travel, occasionally overnight

Responsibilities

  • Enter New Submissions in the clearance system and handle according to established procedures.
  • Prepare and model new and renewal business as directed and supervised by an Underwriter.
  • Review policies, endorsements, audits, cancellations, etc., resolve any discrepancies and make changes, as needed.
  • Review and process policy servicing requests (endorsement, audits, Company requests, Certificates, Premium Finance Notices and Cancellations, etc.).
  • Invoice and process new business and renewal binders, premium bearing endorsements, and cancellations according to internal and Company guidelines.
  • Produce cancellation and non-renewal notices according to statutory and contractual requirements under the direction of assigned Underwriter.
  • Manage underwriting files on accounts in which policies are not issued and handle according to Company and internal established procedures.
  • Maintain pending/suspense system per established procedures.
  • Maintain account files in accordance with company policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
