About The Position

MPI Unlimited is seeking an experienced Underwriting & Agent Support Specialist to serve as the primary liaison between our agents, clients, carriers, and underwriting partners once an application has been submitted. This role is responsible for managing the underwriting and policy placement process from application submission through policy delivery and funding. The ideal candidate has experience managing life insurance cases through underwriting, policy issue, delivery, and placement, with a strong preference for Indexed Universal Life (IUL) experience. The Underwriting & Agent Support Specialist plays a critical role in improving placement rates, reducing underwriting delays, and ensuring every policy progresses efficiently toward an in-force status. This individual will serve as a trusted resource to agents by proactively managing cases, resolving obstacles, and providing exceptional support throughout the underwriting journey. This is a full-time, onsite position based in Gilbert, Arizona.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of life insurance underwriting support, case management, new business, or brokerage operations experience.
  • Strong understanding of life insurance underwriting processes and carrier requirements.
  • Experience working directly with agents and insurance carriers.
  • Experience managing multiple underwriting cases simultaneously.
  • Exceptional organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with agents, clients, and carrier partners.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and carrier platforms.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive client information.

Nice To Haves

  • Indexed Universal Life (IUL) experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in an Independent Marketing Organization (IMO), insurance agency, brokerage general agency (BGA), or carrier environment.
  • Understanding of policy placement, funding, and in-force processes.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage life insurance applications from submission through policy placement and in-force status.
  • Monitor underwriting requirements and proactively follow up on outstanding items.
  • Coordinate communication between agents, clients, carriers, paramedical vendors, and underwriting teams.
  • Review applications for completeness and accuracy prior to submission.
  • Track case status and maintain detailed notes within CRM and case management systems.
  • Identify potential underwriting challenges early and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Work closely with carrier underwriting departments to obtain updates and advocate for timely case progression.
  • Assist agents in understanding underwriting requirements, offers, ratings, exclusions, and policy amendments.
  • Serve as the primary support contact for agents throughout the underwriting process.
  • Provide timely updates regarding case status, outstanding requirements, and next steps.
  • Educate agents on underwriting procedures, carrier expectations, and best practices.
  • Assist agents in preparing clients for medical exams, interviews, APS requests, and other underwriting requirements.
  • Support agents during policy delivery and funding to help ensure successful placement.
  • Help resolve underwriting and placement obstacles to improve policy issuance rates.
  • Coordinate policy delivery requirements and placement documentation.
  • Monitor issued policies to ensure delivery requirements are completed promptly.
  • Assist with premium funding coordination and policy activation.
  • Track placement metrics and help improve overall in-force conversion rates.
  • Follow established procedures to ensure compliance and documentation standards are met.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation within company systems.
  • Utilize CRM, carrier portals, and case management software to manage workflow.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Client Support, and Leadership teams to ensure a smooth client experience.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with company policies and industry regulations.
