About The Position

This role involves data management, analytics, tool development, and communication to support underwriting and actuarial functions. The analyst will be responsible for preparing and analyzing data, developing reporting tools, and presenting findings to stakeholders. The position requires a strong understanding of data, analytical methodologies, and relevant tools.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
Strong oral and written communicate skills.
Strong understanding of data (types, content reliability, etc.).
Strong problem solving and data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
Strong understanding/use of dashboards, data visualization tools, and advanced and custom graphics.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Including but not limited to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
Proficiency with OLAP tools and databases.
Knowledge of one or more of the following: SQL, R or SAS/SPSS

Responsibilities

Reviews data sources and preps needed data, identifying existing and new data sources.
Performs data prototyping to determine data usability.
Prepares data for analysis, troubleshooting issues and identifying alternatives.
Reviews data for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
Maintains tables for department or corporate reporting.
Ensures data integrates with approved corporate tools.
Performs required analysis, applies statistical methodologies, and documents the process.
Determines the type of analytics to be performed and defines the framework.
Utilizes appropriate tools to load, integrate, and analyze data.
Conducts analysis, documents findings, identifies anomalies and root causes.
Ensures reproducibility of outcomes.
Documents the entire analysis process, including business problem, data sources, methods, tools, project reference, and outcomes.
Implements pre-emptive actions where possible.
Participates in the development and delivery of analytics/reporting tools for internal and external customers.
Applies a whole company perspective and researches new approaches to define objectives and success measures.
Defines delivery milestones, negotiates timeframes, monitors progress, and notifies customers of status.
Provides training to customers on new tools/reporting capabilities.
Prepares and presents findings that are informative and audience appropriate.
Reviews findings and outcomes with customers to ensure objectives have been met.
Manages divergent views and advises customers on data-driven decision-making.
Prepares a presentation of the analysis and process followed.
Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
