The Opportunity Leverage your industry expertise and join our expanding team in the Underwriting Acceptance Testing Specialist role! The UAT Specialist is responsible for leading user‑acceptance testing for all underwriting initiatives that require system changes. The role includes developing and executing comprehensive test scripts under tight deadlines and ensuring system functionality aligns with business needs. The specialist will take full ownership of identified system defects and collaborate closely with IT to deliver timely resolutions to complex issues. The success of our company is rooted in teamwork, the way we care about the people we work with and service. This hybrid role will work in our Raleigh office a minimum of two days with the flexibility of remote work three days a week.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Business or Computer Science or an equivalent education and experience in the insurance industry
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret technical requirements as they relate to business needs
  • Effective communication and presentation skills
  • Strong PC skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer experience in a commercial lines insurance environment
  • Prefer understanding of requirements and system development life cycles

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and manage test cases and test scripts to validate system enhancements and changes.
  • Perform functional and regression testing to ensure system integrity and business alignment.
  • Document testing results and communicate system defects or incidents to the Business Systems Analyst (BSA) for resolution.
  • Represent Underwriting in requirement-gathering, validation, and project meetings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, BSA, Operations, Training, etc.) on system initiatives and production changes.
  • Participate in after-hours Thursday and weekend production deployments as needed.
  • Complete projects associated with tickets and production initiatives that cannot be managed through Bulk Endorsements.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for real-time system questions and issue resolution within the Underwriting department.
  • Partner with the Training team to support production implementation efforts.
  • Provide system walkthroughs, process clarification, and screenshots to facilitate the development of training materials.
  • Support training rollouts by assisting with system-related questions during implementation.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Agile methodology, including participation in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and ticket management.
  • Effectively manage and prioritize assigned tickets and project work within Agile workflows.
