About The Position

The Underwriter underwrites and services a book of errors and omissions liability business, including new and renewal business. The role emphasizes Miscellaneous E&O and Lawyers Professional Liability and uses appropriate underwriting methods to meet projected premium and profitability goals. The Underwriter must comply with divisional and corporate underwriting guidelines, administrative standards, and time service standards.

Requirements

1–3 years of underwriting experience in a related line of business.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, and flexibility.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Solid writing and communication skills.
Ability to think originally, challenge ideas, and be receptive to having one's own ideas challenged.
Willingness to travel.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Comply with underwriting guidelines, systems, and procedures.
Perform general underwriting functions, including reviewing submissions, conducting pricing analyses, setting terms and conditions, and preparing quotes, binders, and invoices with authorized approval.
Work within assigned authority and obtain manager approval as necessary.
Liaise with the Claims Department regarding specific claim activity.
Comply with underwriting and administrative guidelines in accordance with Internal Audit department procedures.
Attend marketing meetings with brokers as directed by the manager.
Attend client and broker meetings and other social outings as applicable.
Follow treaty and facultative reinsurance protocols as required.
Stay current on major industry issues and developments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
