About The Position
Joseph Chiarello & Co., Inc. is seeking an Underwriter to join their Firearms Business Insurance team. This role involves underwriting property, commercial general liability, and umbrella policies. The underwriter will evaluate renewals for pricing and coverage, solicit new business, and develop relationships with brokers to drive growth and profitability. The position requires maintaining profitable renewal business, monitoring underwriting results, staying current on industry trends, and participating in claims calls and program audits. The underwriter will also facilitate the rate-quote-bind-issue process as part of a larger underwriting team.
Requirements
- 3+ years’ experience as an underwriter or insurance broker in commercial lines preferred.
- Active P&C license preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with AI tools is a plus.

Responsibilities
- Underwrite property, commercial general liability, and umbrella.
- Evaluate renewals for pricing and coverage in accordance with established underwriting guidelines
- Solicit and cultivate new business opportunities
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with brokers to drive growth and profitability
- Maintain profitable renewal business through active relationship management and timely quotations.
- Monitor underwriting results to ensure adherence to growth targets and target loss ratios.
- Stay current on segment trends, including emerging exposures.
- Participate in claims calls and program audits.
- Facilitate the rate-quote-bind-issue process by working as part of a larger underwriting team, including back-office staff.
