Requirements

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to analyze case files, including medical reports, to accurately assess risk and make underwriting decisions.
Strong ability to manage high volumes of work while meeting tight deadlines and maintaining high quality standards.
Client- and advisor-focused mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
A minimum of 2 years of underwriting experience in the individual disability insurance field, along with experience in individual life insurance and critical illness insurance.
Intermediate level of English proficiency, as the role involves communicating daily with English-speaking clients and partners across Canada through emails and phone calls.

Responsibilities

Assess risks related to disability, life insurance, and critical illness insurance applications to make informed underwriting decisions.
Analyze medical and non-medical information to identify potential risks and concerns.
Apply a holistic approach when assessing overall risk.
Use underwriting guidelines and procedures to make sound underwriting decisions.
Ensure accuracy and timely completion of underwriting tasks and processes.
Communicate with internal and external clients, as well as stakeholders, to obtain additional information or clarify issues related to underwriting decisions.
